PACARAIMA – PARAITEPUY – TEK RIVER CAMP
We begin the trip by car from Pacaraima to the Indigenous Community of Paraitepuy. Upon arrival, all preparations are made and we take our lunch to start the approximately 15-kilometer hike to the camp at Tek River (Rio Tek) or Kukenan River.
TEK RIVER – BASE CAMP
On this day we continue hiking toward the base of the Tepui, about 10 kilometers. We can take a refreshing bath in the cold waters that descend from the Tepui to recover our strength.
BIRD OBSERVATION IN THE FOREST – BASE CAMP
During these days we stay at base camp, dedicated to birdwatching along the trail between the base and the mountain wall. The area consists of humid high-altitude forest (overnight at base camp).
BASE CAMP – TOP OF MOUNT RORAIMA
We begin the ascent to the top of the Tepui, crossing the section known as La Rampa and Paso de las Lágrimas.
We will enjoy its mystery, and upon reaching the top we will explore the surroundings (overnight on the summit of Mount Roraima).
SUMMIT – TOUR 1
On this day we take a round-trip walk of about 8 km. We will visit Catedral Waterfall (10 m), La Ventana viewpoint, and the natural jacuzzi.
In the afternoon we will search for the Oilbirds (Steatornis caripensis), visit the Fissure viewpoint, and explore the cave.
SUMMIT – TOUR 2
We leave early toward the triple border. This day includes a 21 km round trip.
We will visit the Crystal Valley, the border of Guyana, Brazil, and Venezuela, and El Fosso. At night we return to camp (overnight on the summit).
DESCENT DAY – RETURN TO TEK RIVER
We say goodbye to the spectacular beauty of Mount Roraima and begin the descent to Tek River.
This is the hardest trekking day, with about 15 kilometers of walking.
Upon arrival, there will be time to bathe and relax.
TEK CAMP – PACARAIMA
Last day! Everyone walks at their own pace to Paraitepuy. The sense of accomplishment is great, and refreshing drinks will be waiting for us to celebrate.
Afterward, we travel by car to the Community of São Francisco de Yuruani for lunch.
Finally, we continue to Pacaraima to end the trip and return to your destination.
